Wireless Audio for Drive In Movies

Wireless Audio for Drive In Movies

Another day, another desperate call. You wouldn't believe how many emergencies there are in the world of wireless audio systems.

This time the call was from Nathan, a seasoned events organiser, who'd organised another sell out drive in movie.

The traditional way of providing audio at drive in movies is transmitting it on FM, so people can listen via their car radios. Unfortunately in the UK, this isn't quite so straight forward. Aside from finding, hiring and setting up an FM transmitter, the problems are

1) You need an Ofcom license. (The application costs around £500 regardless of outcome).

2) There is no guarantee you will be awarded the license.

3) You don't find out if you're successful until near the actual date of your event

4) Even if you get the license, not everyone's vehicle has an FM radio.

5) Some radios still won't receive the signal (broken aerials, technical reasons)

6) Even when successful, some car batteries will go flat from 2 hours of running the radio.

So in summary, to broadcast a drive in movie on FM you need cash for the transmitter, more cash for the license application, fingers to cross and hope you get the license, nerves of steel as you start advertising the event before you get the license, a back up plan in case you don't get the license; a back up plan if you do get the license for the vehicles that can't use their radios, and a team of people to push cars with flat batteries. Argggggh!!!

If only there was another way....

Silent Disco King can provide a complete wireless audio solutions that takes care of it. We put the smile back on Nathan's hairy face, and we'd love to do the same for you.

We can provide wireless in car speaker systems (with self contained batteries), we also have receiver packs (for connecting to vehicle aux inputs) and wireless headphones which work both in car and outside for any extra guests not in vehicles. It all works together so you can combine all the different headphones, speakers and receivers at one event.

A quick call or email to us will get you all the information you need.
