250,000 People Complained About Us

A video posted by Radio 1 DJ Chris Stark on Twitter resulted in angry users earlier this month, with a video that gained over 250k views and over 2k likes. It was from the epic silent disco from Chichester University Freshers Silent Disco that we supplied headphones for.

The video showed hundreds of Silent Disco-loving students singing along to S Club 7's massive naughties hit 'Reach'. Although this seems fairly innocent, horrific scenes followed as they hit the chorus.

The banging crowd added the word 'UP' into the chorus, causing controversy across the globe. Instead of singing “Reach for the stars", they were singing “Reach UP for the stars".

After the incident we released the following press statement on social media:

**WARNING: This video contains audio some viewers might find distressing**

On behalf of Silent Disco King, we would like to make a formal apology for the events that occurred during Chris Stark's Silent Disco set at Chichester University Freshers.

As the supplier of the Silent Disco we feel that we are partially responsible for the Freshers at the event adding the word 'Up' into the classic S Club 7 song 'Reach', a song that has filled floors since the beginning of the Naughties.
S Club 7 were a 6 piece group who shot to fame in the 90's with hits including “mama" and “who do you think you are" before renaming themselves Charles and Eddie.

We apologise for any inconvenience and distress this incident may have caused to the general public and 'S Club' fans across the world.
Parents of students are being urged to ensure their children are fully prepared for the year ahead, and aware that there is no “up" after “reach" in the chorus of the popular song.

Parents, please remind your children that offspring group S Club 8 is widely regarded as the epitome of evil.

We will do everything within our power to ensure this does not happen again.

Watch the video- if you dare.
